About the library

Find out about the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s William Grundt Memorial Library—its facilities, what is available for loan, and when it is open.

The William Grundt Memorial Library was opened by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder on 23 August 1975.

Situated in the CY O’Connor precinct, the library has become the focal point of the community. It is more than a storehouse for books, it is a knowledge centre and social meeting point.


The library has 7 staff, who are receptive to the needs of the diverse community, and provide a variety of services and programs for more than 11,000 registered members in all categories.

There are currently more than 50,000 items for loan at the library, including:

  • Audio books
  • eResources
  • Magazines
  • Other items

Library facilities

The library has facilities to cater to the needs of all patrons, including:

  • Children’s area
  • Young adult area with lounges
  • Daily local newspapers
  • Comfortable reading areas
  • Free WiFi

There is also a Flexible Learning Room with 20 computers available to the public for a fee.

The library courtyard features the Sensory Garden, which is a lovely area to sit and read.

Play equipment is also available in the area around the library for children to enjoy.

Tuesday & Thursday: 9.30 am – 8.00 pm
Friday: 9.30 am – 5.00 pm
Saturday: 9.00 am – 12.00 noon
Sunday: 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm
