Welcome to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s website.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder is Australia’s largest outback city, situated 596 km northeast of Perth, with a population of 30,000. The City’s annual operating budget is $40 million and employ 280 staff.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s traditional economic base has been and will continue to be mining. However, the City is ensuring that this is diversified across a number of sectors, including:

  •  Tourism
  •  Transport
  •  Services

Our aim is to provide a strong and vibrant economy that caters for a wide range of people wanting to live and work in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, whilst recognising that creating and maintaining a diverse and vibrant community is important in ensuring that we can accommodate the needs and aspirations of its residents.

Providing this balance is seen as a key to the sustainability of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, as we have a vision of being a sustainable regional city of the future.

The City’s Strategic plan has detailed the key elements of this vision, with the Councillors and staff working together in order to make Kalgoorlie-Boulder a great place to live, work and play.

These key elements of the vision are:

  •  We will be a clean and green City
  •  People will call Kalgoorlie-Boulder home
  •  There will be adequate facilities and services for everyone
  •  We will encourage and support economic development & diversification
  •  We will be a quality employer
  •  We will project a positive image at all times demonstrating that we are a regional city of the future.

Please take the opportunity to explore the City’s website and do not hesitate to contact Council staff if you need any further information.
