Learn about the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's 6 Council committees and working groups, which oversee several of the City's major activities and provide policy guidance and governance.

Committees of Council

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Council has 6 committees to supervise various functions of the Council. They are:

  •  All Purpose Committee
  •  Finance & Audit Committee
  •  Commercial Businesses Committee
  •  Sister City Relationships Committee
  •  Walk of Fame Committee
  •  Youth Council.

Several working and steering groups have also been established to guide the actions of major projects. These are:

  •  Lord Forrest Olympic Pool Redevelopment Working Group
  •  Kalgoorlie City Centre Strategy Steering Group
  •  Boulder Town Centre Strategy Steering Group.
  •  Community Safety Crime Prevention Working Group

Councillors also sit on several external committees that deal with issues that affect the City. Current committees include:

All Purpose Committee

The All Purpose Committee is a Standing Committee responsible for:

  •  Reviewing the finances of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder
  •  Strategy and policy development for local economic development
  •  Matters regarding personal hardship of any resident or ratepayer
  •  Contract negotiation
  •  Security of Council property.
  •  Matters that are the subject of litigation
  •  Receiving tenders in accordance with Council policy
  •  Correspondence with the ombudsman
  •  Employment policies
  •  Interviewing and appointing senior employee positions
  •  Awards, honours and presentations to particular individuals or organisations
  •  Managing complaints
  •  Reviewing and drafting proposed policies
  •  Legal advice relating to any of the above matters, or those that directly involve a ratepayer or resident
  •  Other items at the discretion of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer.

Finance & Audit Committee

To oversee and report to Council on all matters pertaining to the financial compliance of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Meetings are not open to the public.

 

Sister City Relationships Committee

The role of the Sister City Relationships Committee is to consider, approve and make recommendations to Council on the following matters:

  • Coordination of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Sister Cities Program
  • Promoting the strategic importance of Sister Cities to the Council and community
  • Fostering good relations with Sister Cities through open communication and common goals
  • Promoting educational, cultural and economic relations with Sister Cities
  • Running specific youth and sporting programs events
  • Identifying funding opportunities to meet the objectives of the Sister Cities program.

Walk of Fame Committee

The Walk of Fame Committee was established to:

  •  Consider matters affect the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Walk of Fame
  •  Act as a selection panel for the Walk of Fame to recognise individuals who have     contributed significantly and positively to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Youth Council

The Youth Council acts as a representative body and channel communication between the youth of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the local and State governments. This role also includes modelling effective civic participation to the young people of the area.
