The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has adopted by absolute majority resolution the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Cat Local Law 2016.
The purpose of this local law is to provide for the control and impounding of cats in public and other places; to prescribe areas in which cats are prohibited absolutely; and to control the number of cats that may be kept in dwellings or premises.
The effect of this local law will be to extend the powers of the local government under the provisions of the Cat Act 2011 and other written law.

This local law was gazetted on 27 September 2016 and will come into operation on the 11 October 2016.
