About us

The Yarri Road Refuse Facility is a landfill and waste disposal plant operated by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The Refuse Facility is located on Yarri Road approximately 7 kilometres north-east of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. 

Opening hours

Our opening hours are:

  •  Monday to Sunday
  •  7 am to 5 pm
  •  Closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day

Waste and recycling areas

Material entering the site is to be disposed of at the designated areas.

Recyclable goods—such as batteries, white goods, green waste and aluminium cans—should be separated and place these in the recycle areas provided. Recyclable goods include.

Tyre disposal

Under the current procedure:

  • Only controlled waste carriers are permitted to dispose of tyres on behalf of businesses.
  • Tyres under 200kg do not require a controlled waste form but are still required to be transported by a licensed carrier.
  • Domestic tyres are to be separated from general rubbish and disposed of as directed by staff.

Disposal of commercial and industrial waste

Commercial and industrial waste must be weighed and categorised by the the Yarri Road refuse facility Site Controller.

Fees and payments

Businesses and other commercial organisations using the Yarri Road refuse facility will be charged a waste disposal fee based on the weight and type of waste disposed of.

There are 2 options for payment of fees. They can be:

  •  Paid in cash at the gatehouse, directly to the site operator
  •  Charge to an account with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Businesses with accounts will receive an invoice indicating:

  •  Total tonnage disposed
  •  Relevant charges
  •  Customer details.

These accounts are payable to the City within 7 days from the date of the invoice.

Disposal of domestic waste

There is no charge for domestic waste brought to the Yarri Road facility by car, utilities, vans or trailers up to 1.2 m x 2.4 m.

Domestic waste is categorised as:

  •  Lawn clippings
  •  Clean green waste
  •  Recyclable items
  •  Asbestos (maximum 500 kg)
  •  Any day-to-day household rubbish.

Residential cleanup dockets

Residential cleanup dockets are available for residential properties in the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder only.

They are valid for 5 days and allow residents to avoid being charged commercial disposal rates, for up to 8 tonnes of waste, when utilising a contractor or a business vehicle to transport domestic waste to Yarri Road refuse facility.

Residential clean up dockets can be obtained in person at the City’s administration office 577 Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie. Please have ready to provide to us the following information:

  •  Name of contractor
  •  Registration number of vehicle.
