Aboriginal Engagement Specialist Sought for Kal City Centre Project

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, in partnership with the Goldfields Esperance Development Commission, will be recruiting for an Aboriginal Engagement Specialist for the Kal City Centre Project.
 
The new role will could suit either an individual or business, and will work with the Kal City Centre team to generate new Aboriginal business, procurement and employment opportunities for the project, and for other regional economic development initiatives.
 
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the Kal City Centre project was about creating opportunities for adding to the vibrancy and economic diversity of our City, and making it an appealing place for both residents and visitors.
 
“We have a significant project taking place in the heart of our City, and within that is our commitment to fostering ‘Kurturtu’, or ‘Kalgoorlie’s Heart’. This will unite community and commerce through new experiences, attractions and special places for ‘Kal life’ to unfold,” Mr Walker said.
 
“This is a broad role that we hope will have long term positive outcomes for the Goldfields, not just for the duration of the Kal City Centre Project, but also in leading ongoing Aboriginal economic development initiatives which will advance local Aboriginal employment and procurement opportunities.
 
“We want someone really motivated who will champion strong local content strategies and support Aboriginal people and Aboriginal-owned businesses in not just winning tenders, but also through things like promoting service and supply chain opportunities and capacity building in local Aboriginal businesses by identifying things like suitable employment opportunities and training pathways.”
