Heritage Precincts
Kalgoorlie-Boulder is a city with a rich and significant history in Western Australia. Many of its heritage places have been preserved or adapted over time, reflecting the changes and continuity of its culture and identity.
These places are valued and respected by the community and visitors, who appreciate the charm and uniqueness of the City. Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s heritage places are a testament to its enduring legacy and appeal.
In June 1999, a heritage area study was conducted to identify culturally significant places in the Kalgoorlie and Boulder town sites and group them together into designated heritage areas for better planning, conservation, and management.
As a result of the study, 2 heritage precincts were created on Hannan Street and Burt Street.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a Heritage Advisor available to help you with Development Applications and other matters relating to heritage buildings.
The advisor provides free advice on restoring, reusing or reconstructing buildings, including houses, to ensure their historic value and character is maintained and enhanced.
