e-waste

In July 2024, the State Government implemented a ban on the disposal of electronics and electronic items in landfill. This initiative aims to minimise the environmental impact of waste disposal, help protect the environment from hazardous materials contained in e-waste, and reduce the risk of fires caused by batteries.
Residents can safely dispose of their e-waste at the Yarri Road Refuse Facility free of charge.

Why should e-waste be recycled?

e-waste is composed of valuable materials like gold, glass, steel, copper, zinc, aluminum, platinum, plastic, and brass, all of which can be recovered and recycled into new products. Additionally, e-waste recycling ensures that harmful substances like mercury and lead found in electronics are disposed of safely.
