Bulk Bin Request

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is pleased to offer residents access to general waste bulk bins for convenient waste disposal. Each household is entitled to one bulk bin per financial year, with a capacity of up to 4 cubic meters or 1000kg of waste.

What Can Go in the Bulk Bin?

You can use the bulk bin for items such as:

  • Household furniture (e.g. chairs, tables, couches)
  • Floor coverings (e.g. carpets, underlay)
  • E-waste (e.g. TVs, computers, monitors, mobile phones)
  • Old bicycles
  • Bed frames and headboards
  • General junk
  • Green waste (e.g. branches, garden clippings)
  • Bulky household items
  • Oversized cardboard packaging

 

Items Not Allowed in the Bulk Bin

Unfortunately, the following items cannot be disposed of in the bulk bin:

  • Asbestos
  • Bagged waste
  • Car parts
  • Construction, demolition, or building waste
  • Toilets, baths, or sinks
  • Sand, rubble, concrete, or pavers
  • Food waste
  • Gas bottles
  • Glass items (e.g. windows, glass panes, glass tables)
  • Household hazardous waste (e.g. paints, chemicals, fire extinguishers, gas cylinders)
  • Liquid waste
  • Mattresses
  • Real turf
  • Tyres
  • Fencing
  • White goods

Placement of the Bulk Bin

To ensure safe delivery, our drivers will place the bulk bin on the front verge of your property. Please note:

  • Bulk bins cannot be placed on driveways, footpaths, or inside private property.
  • If there are garden beds or trees blocking access, the driver will aim to place the bin as close as possible. In some cases, this may mean placing it on your neighbour’s verge.
  • If there is no safe spot to deliver the bin, a full refund will be issued.

Cost 

Charges: As of 1 July 2024, a fee of $26.00 (inc GST) applies to booking the Bulk Bin service.

Do you have an eligible concession card?

If you have a current concession card showing the address you are requesting a bulk bin service for, you may be eligible for a bulk bin at no cost. DO NOT BOOK ONLINE. Please speak to our Customer Service team on 9021 9600 or visit the Administration Office at 577 Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie to complete your booking.
