Honorary Freeman of the City
The Honourary Freeman of the City recognises outstanding contributions made by an individual both to the community and to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder through services to Local Government.
1993 – Charles “Digger” Pearson Daws, OAM JP
Presented by Mayor Ron Yuryevich AM RFD.
Also a Freeman of the Shire of Boulder, in recognition to his commitment and service to the community and local government. Mr Daws joined the Kalgoorlie Roads Board in 1953 and was on the board when it was designated the Shire of Kalgoorlie in 1961. He was Vice President of the Shire of Kalgoorlie until 1965, then Shire President until 1969. In 1979 he joined the Shire of Boulder and became Shire President until 1988.
2007 – Lorna Mitchell, MBE OAM JP
Presented by Mayor Ron Yuryevich AM RFD.
In recognition of her outstanding and meritorious service to the community and local government. The first woman elected to the then Town of Kalgoorlie Council, Mrs Mitchell served on the Council for twenty years, retiring in 1989.
2012 – Esther Roadnight, OAM
Presented by Deputy Mayor Allan Pendal.
In recognition of her outstanding and meritorious service to the community. Mrs Roadnight has been a dedicated and tireless worker for the residents and community of Kalgoorlie-Boulder for more than 20 years. In her capacity as both an elected member of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and as a private citizen, Mrs Roadnight has undeniably made an outstanding contribution to the people and community of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
