Rates Concession

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder recognises the value and importance of the services and contributions that not-for-profit recreation, sporting and community groups provide to the community.

Council provides a rates relief to those eligible not-for-profit recreation, sporting and community groups by offering a 50% or 100% waiver on their general land rates.

Eligibility

To apply, an organisation must complete all sections of the Rates Concession Application Form and submit any additional documentation requested. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application.

The lodging of an application does not affect the liability of a ratepayer to pay the rates assessed in full or under an instalment option whilst awaiting the outcome of their application.

All balances outstanding will accrue penalty interest from 30 September 2024.

Once the application has been processed and Council has decided, a formal written response will be issued to the applicant.

Closing Date for Applications

Applications must be lodged on or before 31 December 2024.  No late applications will be accepted.

Rates Exemptions

Under Section 6.26 of the Local Government Act 1995, some organisations (such as charitable organisations, religious bodies, government agencies, etc.) may be eligible to apply for a rates exemption.

Application Information

Application Form

Service Charges

Properties will be subject to Waste Service Levy and Utility Fee (i.e. pedestals/urinal/slophoppers) charges where an exemption from rates is approved.

DFES - Emergency State Levy (ESL)

Property that is either privately owned or leased is still liable for the Emergency State Levy (ESL).   

Reviews

Property is subject to periodic reviews to ensure its continued approval.
