A one hour and 28 minute scramble for tickets has given a good indication that this year’s Race Round will be a success.
That’s the amazingly short time it took for the five hundred tickets to this year’s Barefoot Luncheon to sell out.
This year’s Luncheon has a theme of “Barefoot on the Beach”, complete with beach sand for the ladies to kick up their heels.
The Barefoot on the Beach isn’t the only Luncheon on the Friday before the Kalgoorlie Cup, with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club also hosting its popular Sportsman’s lunch.
Another popular Round event that is back is the Welcome to the Round Cocktail Party on the Wednesday night before the Hannans Handicap meeting.
Two hundred tickets have already been sold, which once again bodes well for our famous racing carnival. Innovative local firm Worthy Parts has led the way with 40 tickets for their employees.
The Cocktail Party will be held at a unique and exciting venue – the Chinese Gardens at the Hannans North Tourist Mine.
Gourmet catering from Drummonds, and Perth band ‘Little Belle’ will make for a great night.
Since the problems with last year’s Round, the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club has worked tirelessly to get local horse racing back on track.
Led by Chairman John Relph and new CEO, Brent Snell, the club has attracted some good crowds throughout the season.
Despite the importance of the lead up meetings, the Club’s fortunes depend on the success of the annual racing carnival.
When five hundred tickets are snapped up in less than an hour and a half, then we can look at it as a good omen, and move forward to the Round with confidence.
