The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is hosting a free waste information session to provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the process of recycling and how to reduce waste in the city.

This free event, held in collaboration with Cleanaway is aimed at reshaping our relationships with waste and recycling and ensuring residents are educated on the process and what they can do to reduce their waste footprint.

Attendees will hear from Cleanaway’s experienced Head Waste Education Officer Candice Myers, who will provide valuable insights into the world of waste, recycling, and sustainable practices.

Mayor John Bowler said the event will feature a virtual tour of the state-of-the-art recycling sorting plant in Perth, providing participants with an immersive experience of the recycling process.

“We are often asked where our recycling goes, and through this interactive presentation, residents will not only learn about the advanced technologies used at recycling facilities but also have the opportunity to witness how recyclable materials are sorted and processed.”

“The session will address common waste misconceptions, debunking myths and providing accurate information to empower individuals in making informed decisions regarding waste management.”

“Residents will also receive valuable tips and tricks for effective composting, reducing organic waste, and valuable insights into how they can contribute to a more sustainable environment for the future of our city.”

The free workshop will be held from 10am-12pm, 17 June at the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre. Pre-registration is not required.
