The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will partner with local businesses and service providers to host a ‘Men’s Lawn Bowls Day’ this Friday in support of Men’s Health Week.

Under the theme of ‘Bowling for Wellness,’ the event will feature a lawn bowling tournament, ‘pit stop’ health assessments, and information sessions focusing on men’s physical and mental health.

The event aims to raise awareness of the importance of prioritising health, particularly for men in our community. Service providers, including fitness experts, wellness practitioners, and healthcare providers, will be on hand to facilitate helpful discussions and answer any questions.

Mayor Wilson said everything would take place in a relaxed environment where men could come together, have a chat, and support one another in raising more awareness of this important issue.

“Men’s health is extremely important, something many find hard to talk about or prioritise. This event provides an opportunity to come together, have a bit of fun, and hopefully provide encouragement.”

“Talking about physical and mental health is something that should always be encouraged, and the City is proud to host events such as this which create opportunities to build relationships and encourage greater well-being amongst our residents.”

“Events and initiatives such as this are an important part of realising the outcomes of the City’s Public Health Plan, and I encourage everyone to come down, speak to the health professionals, and socialise over a game of lawn bowls.”

The Men’s Health Week Lawn Bowls event will take place on Friday 14 June from 12pm to 4pm at the Kalgoorlie Bowling Club.

Community members can pre-register a team via the registration form found on the City’s website or in person on the day.
