Update on Storm Recovery - 4pm

Published on Thursday, 14 September 2023 at 4:38:54 PM

The City is continuing to work with local agencies, Western Power and the Police in the recovery effort following yesterday’s storm.

Our outdoor crew have worked through all sections of the city, clearing roads of debris and prioritising further required works. Clean-up is estimated to take a couple of weeks.

The majority of city facilities are open to the public including:

  • Yarri Rd Waste Management Facility
  • Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport
  • City Administration Building
  • Goldfields Arts Centre
  • William Grundt Memorial Library (note the library playground is closed)
  • Eastern Goldfields Community Centre
  • Y O’Connor Men’s Shed
  • Animal Management Facility
  • Hammond Park

The Kalgoorlie Golf Course, Waterhole Bar and Bistro and Golf Range, Boulder Town Hall and War Museum will reopen tomorrow.

The Goldfields Oasis remains closed today. The stadium and gymnasium will reopen 6am Friday 15 September. The 24/7 access to the gym will remain closed until remediation works are conducted to the entry gate. Power has been restored to the Centre, however, due to water testing requirements, the pool area will remain closed until further notice. All swimming lessons scheduled for tomorrow are also cancelled. As the centre is closed, any enquiries can be directed to the City’s customer service team on 9021 9600.

We ask residents to please contact our customer service team on 9021 9600 to report fallen trees which are blocking driveways or laneway access. Our team have recorded areas of debris and have a plan for cleaning non-urgent areas over the next few days.

Reports of wandering animals can be made by calling our customer service team on 9021 9600.

We thank all residents for their patience during this time and all agencies, support crews and emergency services who are working together on the restoration effort.
