Bayonets and Barbed Wire presentation and book signing

Past Event

Meet renowned Western Australian military historian Neville Browning OAM - author of eleven books about Australia's participation in the First World War for a presentation and book signing of his latest work, 'Bayonets and Barbed Wire', where he will share his insights and knowledge about Australia's role in the Western Front.

The Goldfields War Museum is proud to support Neville's work, and use his books regularly in research. Recent findings show that over 400 Goldfields men served with the 16th Battalion during the First World War.

Come and discover the stories of local men who served with distinction in the Battalion, such as musician Edward 'Ted' McMahon, machine gunner Percy Charles Herbert Black DSO DCM, and Thomas Leslie Axford VC MM, who was employed at the Boulder City Brewery prior to joining the 16th Battalion.

Neville was made a recipient of the Order of Australia in the 2018 Australia Day Honours for 'Services to the Preservation of Australian Military History' and has also twice been nominated for Western Australian Of The Year.

This is a unique opportunity to meet him and learn more about Australia's military history.
