Junior Art Prize 2025
Calling all young artists! The Junior Art Prize is back, and this year’s theme is Fantasy Pets. Open to creative minds aged 4 to 12, this Art Prize invites kids to imagine and bring to life the pet of their dreams.
Is your pet a fire-breathing dragon? A rainbow-coloured unicorn cat? A tiny, mischievous fairy mouse? Maybe it has wings, extra eyes or even magical powers! Whether it’s fluffy, scaly or sparkly let your imagination run wild and show us what your fantasy pet would look like.
Artists have the opportunity to produce and exhibit one piece that is created in any medium on the frame paper provided by the Goldfields Arts Centre. Celebrating the creativity of young artists in our community, winners will be selected across different age categories at the awards afternoon.
IMPORTANT DATES
Registrations open: Thursday 20 March 2025
Registrations close: Friday 16 May 2025, 3pm
Awards afternoon: Saturday 24 May 2025, time TBC
Exhibition: Monday 26 May - Friday 27 June | Weekdays 10am - 5pm, Saturdays 10am -1pm
Artwork collection: Monday 30 June - Friday 4 July 2025, 10am - 3pm (from the Goldfields Arts Centre)
REGISTRATION
To be eligible to enter you must live in Kalgoorlie or surrounding areas (100km), please submit the registration form, artist statement tile and completed art work together to one of the following drop off locations before Friday 16 May, 3pm.

ARTWORK CATEGORIES
First, second and third prizes will be awarded in three age groups:
4- 6 years
7-9 years
10-12 years
Entries will be judged according to the following criteria: The relevance of the submitted artwork to the theme, artistic interpretation of the theme and the originality of the submission.
PICK UP AND DROP OFFS
All artwork submitted into the Junior Art Prize must be completed on an A3 frame paper supplied by the Goldfields Arts Centre. You can pick up and drop off your artwork at the following location points around town:
