The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder invites entries into this year’s Art Prize, with registrations now open. The annual Art Prize is a prestigious regional art exhibition that has been showcasing the talents of artists from across Australia for over 30 years.
The City’s Art Prize is open to Australian artists of all levels across various mediums. It features 10 categories and $40,000 in prize money, including a People’s Choice Award.
This year, in an effort to encourage young artists and a wider range of participants, the City is lowering the age limit for the Youth Artist Category from 16 to 13 years of age. This move aims to provide young artists with a platform to develop their craft and gain exposure.
Following the success of previous years, the 2025 competition will again feature no set theme, offering artists creative freedom to explore their ideas and concepts.
The City provides a free pick-up freight service for entries coming from Perth, Esperance, Merredin, Laverton, Leonora, and Menzies each year. This service allows artists from the Goldfields-Esperance region, many of whom often don’t have local exhibitions of this scale, to present their work to a larger audience.
Mayor Wilson said he is looking forward to the exhibition, which will allow the local arts community to exhibit their work before experienced judges, residents, and visitors to Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
"The Art Prize continues to shine a spotlight on the incredible talent emerging from Kalgoorlie-Boulder and beyond, creating a platform where artists of all ages can come together to celebrate creativity and the diversity of Australian art."
"Whether you're an emerging artist or an established professional, the 2025 Art Prize is your chance to exhibit your work alongside some of the best in the industry. I encourage everyone to embrace this opportunity and submit their work to be part of this renowned event,"
Registrations for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder 2025 Art Prize open on 31 March 2025 and close on 31 May 2025.
