The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is setting a new course for its advocacy and partnership efforts, positioning the City as a leading regional hub for economic growth and investment.

At this month’s Council meeting, Councillors unanimously endorsed the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Regional Partnership for Economic and Social Transformation and the updated Kalgoorlie-Boulder Advocacy Position Framework. Together, these initiatives will guide the City’s engagement with State and Federal governments, ensuring advocacy aligns with the City’s long-term strategic vision and community priorities.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the endorsement reinforced the City’s commitment to working proactively with all levels of government to deliver positive outcomes for the community.

“These frameworks give us a clear, consistent approach when advocating for Kalgoorlie-Boulder," Mayor Wilson said.

"They ensure we’re putting our best foot forward when we meet with decision-makers—whether it’s in Canberra during the Australian Local Government Association's National General Assembly for example, or in discussions about critical issues like housing, crime prevention, and closing the Gap."

The Regional Partnership draws inspiration from successful ‘Regional Deals’ implemented across Australia. It promotes collaborative efforts between all tiers of government to unlock economic opportunities and improve community well-being.

“Our Regional Partnership creates a structured, long-term plan for tackling key regional challenges and driving growth,” he said. “It’s about working together—local, State, and Federal governments—to deliver projects that matter, from housing and community safety to sustainable water solutions.”

The complementary Advocacy Framework ensures the City presents a unified voice when engaging with stakeholders, enhancing the impact of its advocacy efforts. “By aligning our advocacy with the City’s priorities, we can speak with one voice and push for the outcomes our community deserves."

“This approach builds stronger partnerships, ensures we’re making informed decisions, and puts us in the best position to attract the investment Kalgoorlie-Boulder needs to grow and prosper.”

The endorsed frameworks will shape the City’s future advocacy work, ensuring that local priorities remain front and centre in discussions at all levels of government.
