The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is celebrating a hole-in-one achievement after taking out top honours at the 2025 WA Golf Industry Awards, with the Kalgoorlie Golf Course named Regional Golf Course of the Year.

This recognition not only support the Kalgoorlie Golf Course’s place on the national map but also affirms its standing as one of Australia’s most unique, challenging and community-minded golfing destinations.

Designed by world-renowned architect Graham Marsh and described as “the most Australian golf course in Australia”, the Kalgoorlie Golf Course has consistently delivered a high-quality experience to local and visiting golfers alike. The course is known for its championship conditions, clever layout, and spectacular outback scenery.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the win was a proud moment for the City and all those who make the Golf Course what it is.

“We’ve always known that the Kalgoorlie Golf Course offers a unique experience – but now all of WA does too,”

“From world-class greens set against that iconic red dirt, to hard-working grounds crew and friendly pro shop staff – we’ve always known that the Kalgoorlie Golf Course offers a unique experience, but now all of WA does too,”

“It’s not easy growing grass – let alone a first-class course – in the middle of the outback, and there is so much that happens behind the scenes by dedicated staff, volunteers and golf club members.”

“Our team has turned challenges like saline groundwater, harsh temperatures and remote logistics into a green oasis that punches well above its weight,”

The Regional Golf Course of the Year award acknowledges significant improvements in design, layout, course conditions and playability - all areas where the City has made improvements in recent years.

The City in partnership with the Goldfields Golf Club, have grown memberships, course usage and event bookings – including the long-running WA PGA Championship, which the course has hosted since 2012.

Mayor Wilson also acknowledged the growing significance of the course in attracting visitors and enhancing the liveability of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

“Whether it’s a tournament, a charity event, or a relaxed family dinner at the bistro, the course has evolved into more than just a place to play golf - it’s become a vibrant community hub where people come together to connect, unwind, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.”

Looking ahead, planned improvements at the Golf Course include a $1.8 million upgrade to water infrastructure, new lighting installations, and enhancements to the clubhouse facilities.

The City thanks the dedicated staff, club members, volunteers, and residents who made award win possible.
