Information Sessions will assist employers with Goldfields DAMA

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is holding a mini roadshow to provide employers with more information about how the Goldfields Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) program can help with their workforce needs.

Information sessions will be held in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on 8 July and in Laverton on 9 July. A session will also be held later this year in Esperance, and can be held in any of the other Goldfields DAMA local government areas upon request.

The Goldfields DAMA, which was recently extended for another year until April 2025, allows employers to sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers in specified industries that are currently experiencing critical skill and labour shortages. There are 145 occupations in the DAMA, including specialist mining roles and a range of roles in the hospitality, health, and early childhood education and care sectors.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the information sessions were the perfect way for employers to find out more about the DAMA.

“The Goldfields DAMA provides significant support to businesses in the eight Goldfields local government areas that are part of the program, and has helped employers fill multiple roles that are essential to the operation and growth of their business.”

“We encourage as many employers as possible to attend these sessions, whether they are considering using the DAMA for the first time, or are already using the DAMA and would like to find out more. Everyone is welcome.”

“As well as informing new businesses about the DAMA, these sessions will also acknowledge the contribution of existing DAMA employers to our community and thank them for their involvement in the program.”

The Kalgoorlie-Boulder session will be held at De Bernales from 12-2pm, Monday 8 July. The session includes a presentation and opportunity for questions and answers in the first hour. DAMA representatives will then stay until 2pm to answer additional questions through an informal drop-in session. Representatives from the Department of Home Affairs, and local community and migration services will also be in attendance.

A session in Laverton will be held at the Shire of Laverton offices from 5pm, Tuesday 9 July.

Finger food will be provided at both events, and preregistrations close at 5pm Thursday 4 July.
