Get ready for a summer of live music as the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Sunset Concert Series returns to Centennial Park in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, bringing three spectacular nights of tribute performances and local talent to the stage in early 2025.
Starting on Australia Day, the series will feature an exciting mix of headline acts, including celebrated tribute acts covering Queen David Bowie and Coldplay, plus iconic Aussie band, The Cat Empire. The popular free, family-friendly concerts will bring music lovers of all ages together, and will include community fundraising stalls and local support acts.
Musician Thomas Crane will kick off the series on Australia Day, bringing to life the legendary sounds of Queen and David Bowie. From Queen’s anthemic classics like Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You, to Bowie’s transformative musical eras, celebrating his remarkable range of styles and personas from Ziggy Stardust to the Thin White Duke.
The second concert, on Saturday 8 February, will see Coldplace, one of Perth’s finest tribute bands, perform the best of Coldplay, recreating the magic of Coldplay’s unforgettable live shows.
Closing the series will be the high-energy, genre-blending sounds of The Cat Empire, who will bring their infectious grooves and vibrant energy to the Centennial Park stage on Saturday 15 February. With multiple platinum records, awards, sold-out tours, and over 250 million streams, this iconic Aussie band is set to deliver a blistering set that includes new material alongside the crowd favourites.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the City’s Sunset Concert Series is a highlight on the City’s summer events calendar and have become a favourite tradition for residents.
“The concerts provide a great opportunity for families, friends, and visitors to come together under the open skies of Centennial Park and enjoy performances by some of the best acts in the country.”
“We’re proud to have such talented local artists in our community, and this is a fantastic way to support them. Sharing the stage with these popular acts is an exciting opportunity, and it’s always great to see them shine in front of thousands of people.”
“I encourage everyone to save the dates, grab a picnic rug or check out the local food stalls, and enjoy a night out with great music and great company. Whether you’re a fan of Queen, Bowie, Coldplay, or The Cat Empire, or just love a good community event, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Each event starts at 6pm, and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs, picnics and beverages (no glass), or purchase food and refreshments from a variety of local vendors at each event.
